On behalf SVG Basketball Federation’s newly elected executive body and President Mr. Junior Sutton, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the various media representatives for taking the time to assist us in making the public aware of the latest development with the SVG Basketball Federation and Basketball on a national level in SVG.
We would also like to extend an invitation to you to attend an official Press Conference to be held Upstairs the Music Center Conference Room, Wednesday June 25th @ 2pm. This press conference is to discuss St. Vincent and the Grenadines participation in the upcoming FIBA CBC Championship and other developments in the SVG Basketball Federation.
The newly elected president and the executive body are now embarked on a mission to reshape, reinvigorate and rebuild the interest in basketball in SVG at all levels. As such, St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Basketball male and female team will travel to the British Virgin Islands to compete in the highly competitive FIBA CBC Championship. The tournament for the Male Team will run from July 1st -5th 2014, while the Female Team runs from the 8th – 11th July 2014.
SVG Basketball Federation will have an official delegation of 16 persons (12 players, 2 coaches, 1 trainer, 1 referee). The Male Team will travel on June 27th, arriving several days in advance of most teams; on the other hand, the Female Team will travel on the 28th June. This is early arrival is strategically done to allow for a few days of practice sessions with the team for gelling. A number of the players on the SVG male and female team are overseas based, and are from many locations; therefore, it does require some practice sessions to create the type of cohesiveness that is necessary for the team to be effective and competitive in this tournament.

Nyika Williams (NY, but is already in SVG) 7. Dameon Ottely (based in Tortola) The local based players as follows: 1. Michael Peniston (Grenadines) 2. Stevon Taylor (Grenadines) 3. Orlando Fergusson (Mainland) 4. Randolph Williams (Mainland) 5. Lezlo McKenzie (Mainland)

The Female team is also comprised of overseas based players and home based players. SVG Basketball Federation will have an official delegation of 17 persons (13 players, 2 coaches, 1 referee).

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank the various organizations and individuals that came together to make it possible for St. Vincent and the Grenadines to have both the male and female teams taking part in this very important tournament. The President and the Executive members would also like to recognize and thank Sabrina Mitchell who is also the manager of the SVG Basketball Federation male team and Secretary General for the Caribbean Basketball Federation, for her significant roll and efforts in helping to bring the necessary finances together, so that the teams can be in this tournament. It was a challenging journey getting to this stage but we are happy that we had support of these important partners, sponsors and supporters.
