This country’s efforts to fight transnational crime have been boosted with the commissioning of the new Coast Guard Sub Base in Canouan this week.
The project was funded by the United States through the Caribbean Basin Security Arrangement.
In his address at the Ceremony on Tuesday, Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves expressed gratitude to the United States Government for its assistance to this country over the years.
He said St. Vincent and the Grenadines has had excellent relations with the United States for a number of years.
Meanwhile … Police Commissioner Michael Charles has welcomed the construction of the sub base, which he says will assist in the fight against crime.
