A new Coast Guard Facility will be officially commissioned in the Grenadine Island of Canouan today.
The Coast Guard Base, was constructed at a cost of two-million US dollars, with assistance from the United States Government under Secure Seas Programme.
The facility was constructed by the firm Palgag Technologies limited of Israel.
Under the Secure Seas Programme SVG also benefitted from the receipt of two vessels to aid in the patrolling of our waters.
One is now stationed at Canouan to service the grenadines.
The opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at two thirty this afternoon with addresses from Director of Grenadines Affairs, Edwin Snagg; US Ambassador to Barbados and the OECS Larry Palmer and Police Commissioner Michael Charles.
Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Dr. Ralph Gonsalves will deliver the feature address.
