Chief Engineer, Brent Bailey said he hopes to see the establishment of a National Disaster Database for St. Vincent and the Grenadines which covers ALL sectors, in the near future.
He made this statement during yesterday’s opening of a three-day workshop aimed at training persons who are responsible for collecting data on the impact of a hazard.
Mr. Bailey said disasters continue to affect the country and to date there only exists a National Disaster Database for houses and he expects to see this further developed encompass all of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Mr. Bailey said he hopes the ongoing workshop can address this issue so that when the relevant authorities are planning for disaster management the programs which they develop can be more relevant to the overall needs throughout the country.
