Zefal Bailey and Peter Durrant secured wins on Sunday in the St. Vincent Cycling Union’s Eyes-R-Us/TV Consultant 45 miles Road Race between Colonarie and North Union.
The event was the 10th one the Cycling Union’s Race programme for the year. Weather conditions and funeral along the route forced organisers to make a route adjustment.
Instead of racing between Georgetown and Colonarie. The Riders competed for 10 laps between Colonarie and North Union, a distance of 45 miles.
Zefal Bailey clipped Lucky Antrobus to win the Under-40 category, while Peter Durrant won the over-40 in 2 hours 21 minutes, 53 seconds. Antrobus’ time was in 2 hours, 21 minutes, 72 seconds. Desmond Cox in the top three for the first time clocked, 2 hours, 28 minutes, 28 seconds.
Durrant won the Over-40’s in 2 hours, 21 minutes, 14 seconds.
Orel George finished second in 2 hours, 25 minutes, 26 seconds, with Curtis Lewis third in 2 hours, 25 minutes, 33 seconds.
Shawn chandler, was the lone competitor in the Mountain Bike category after leading rider in 2014, Cammie Adams failed to start because of a mechanical problem. Mechanical problem also prevented four other riders from completing the course.
