The Walters Family of New Montrose are mourning the loss of some family members who were burnt to death yesterday.
Six members of the same family were killed when a fast-moving fire ripped through a single-family home in New Jersey’s largest city early Sunday.
The blaze broke out at the three-story residence at around 4 a.m., and the fire soon spread to another residence, and both homes were destroyed.
Firefighters say everyone in the second home managed to escape safely.
The fire victims are 58-year-old Salome Stewart, originally from New Montrose, her husband Reginald, also 58; Salome’s sister, Natasha Kinsale, 47; Michelle Noreen Johnson, 43; her son, Stefforn Sydney, 15; and Zion Forbes, 11.
The Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly says the cause of the fire has not yet been determined but it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
Salome’s mother is Catherine Keil-Walters of New Montrose and her sister Annis Stevens of Sharpes Dale.
