St. Vincent and the Grenadines will join the global community to observe World Day to Combat Desertification on Wednesday.
The Day will be observed under the theme “Ecosystem-based Adaptation” with the slogan Land Belongs to the Future – Let’s Climate Proof It.
The Day is aimed at increasing the attention given to land and soil within climate change adaptation and mobilize support for sustainable land management.
This issue was highlighted during NBC’s Views on Issues Program yesterday, where Acting Director of the Forestry Department, Fitzgerald Providence pointed out that there needs to be more effective participation in the adaptation of climate change practices here.
The other panelists were Regional Supervisor in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Leroy Jackson; Superintendent of the Marine and Terrestrial Parks at the Rivers Parks and Beaches Authority, Andrew Lockhart and UNCCD Actors Focal Point Todd Lewis.
