Minister of Health, Clayton Burgin, said the government has implemented a number of health initiatives aimed at reducing the incidents of child obesity in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
He was addressing hosted a one-day Symposium and Health Fair, held last week as part of activities to observe Nutrition Awareness Week.
Minister Burgin said work is continuing on the development of a policy for nutrition during childhood, and has been expanded to include school-aged children.
Minister Burgin said public education is a key component in the thrust to promote healthy living.
