Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Clayton Burgin, said malnutrition, which includes under-nutrition and obesity, remains one of the leading causes of death and disability globally.
He made the point in a radio address on Sunday, to signal the start of a week of activities to observe Nutrition Awareness Week 2014.
The activities are being held under the theme “Healthy Eating Active Living: Good Nutrition within Your Budget”.
Minister Burgin said malnutrition causes serious health defects on those affected.
Minister Burgin said healthy nutrition is crucial to the development of every individual.
