Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Saboto Ceaser, said the fisheries complex at Clifton, Union Island, has been closed temporarily due to structural deficiencies at the facility.
Minister Ceaser said outlined the nature of the problems affecting fisherfolk on the island, while responding to a question in Parliament on Thursday.
He explained that the problems being experienced are the result of the natural deterioration of the facility, which is about 18 years old.
Minister Ceaser said repairs on the facility will commence in the near future.
