The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment is continuing efforts to address Chikungunya.
In this regard, a team of officials, including the Acting Chief Environmental Health Officer and two Health Promotion Officers are in Canouan to conduct surveillance activities on the island.
These include visits to various premises, in an attempt to identify and destroy breeding sites of the aedes aegypti mosquito, the vector which transmits the disease.
The team will also conduct education sessions at the Canouan Government School and the Canouan Resort.
A Town Hall Meeting will be held at the Boat Club, beginning at 6. 30 this evening.
The Ministry is inviting all residents in Canouan to attend the meeting in order to be more fully informed about Chikungunya.
There are no reported cases of Chikungunya on Canouan to date.
