Efforts are continuing here to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines joined the rest of the world yesterday, to observe International Day for Biological Diversity under the theme “Island Biodiversity”.
And, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment held an exposition at Heritage square which featured different aspects of biodiversity, including genetic, cultural diversity and ecosystems.
In his address at the opening ceremony, Minister of Health Wellness and the Environment Clayton Burgin says this day is an opportunity to “recognize the pivotal role of biodiversity and healthy ecosystems to life on earth and human well-being”.
He said that Vincentians must play their role in conserving the islands “biodiversity and sustainability using the resources for the availability of future generations.
