A new project was launched here today to further strengthen the ability of Vincentians to reduce the risks associated with the impacts of climate change.
The project entitled the Global Climate Change Alliance Project on Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Land Management in the Eastern Caribbean was officially launched here this morning
In his remarks, Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Clayton Burgin said the project touches two very integral issues in the country which are climate change and Land Management.
He said his Ministry continues to work with a number of local stakeholders to address the issue of climate change while the Ministry of Housing has conducted significant work in the area of land management.
Meanwhile … Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Louis DeShong said this project is being funded by the European Union, and it is designed to improve dialogue and cooperation between the EU and developing countries on the issue of Climate Change.
The National Committee for St. Vincent and the Grenadines which will manage the project was also presented to the media today.
