The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment is intensifying its fogging and other activities to contain the spread of the Chikungunya viral disease here.
Chairman of the National Surveillance Committee in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Rosmond Adams says the Ministry is working to ensure that the outbreak of the disease does not reach epidemic proportions.
He says homeowners should open their windows and doors when the trucks visit the communities to conduct the fogging exercise.
Dr. Adams is also urging persons to visit their doctors and clinics if they experience any of the symptoms of the Chikungunya Viral disease.
Health Officials say to date there are thirty-seven confirmed cases of Chikungunya in Bequia and two on the mainland.
