Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries Raymond Ryan has been highlighting the challenges facing the local Fisheries Sector, as activities continue here to mark Fisherman’s Month 2014.
Addressing the official launch of the month of activities Friday, Mr. Ryan outlined the challenges which have emerged in recent years.
This year’s activities will be held under the theme: Fishing for today’s family creates a healthy society” and the slogan “fish to survive and thrive.”
The month of activities will culminate with the Fisherman’s Day Competition on Monday June 9th at the Calliaqua Fisheries Centre.
A beach clean-up will be carried out at Clear Valley this Saturday, as part of the month of activities.
