Unica Velox and Robert “BOB” Ballantyne won the Women’s and Men’s Titles respectively at the weekend to bring the curtains down on the Beverley Warren Memorial Table Tennis Tournament at the West St. George Secondary School in Belair.
Velox defeated Natasha Shortte 11-4, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8 to clinch to Women’s Title and Ballantyne beat Carrington 11-3, 6-11, 11-9, 13-15, 15-13, 11-9.
In the Men’s semi-finals, Robert Ballantyne beat Sean Stanley 21-10, 11-9, 11-8, 11-7 and Joseph Carrington ousted Carlton Daniel 11-8, 11-5, 7-11 12-10 11-8.
In the Men’s doubles final: Robert Ballantyne and Carlton Daniel beat Joseph Carrington and Damion Dublin, 11-4, 4-11, 11-1, 6-11, 11-8.
Andre Mitchell defeated Cruz Halbach 12-10, 11-6, 11-5 in the Junior Boys Final.
In the Junior Girls Final: Vedel Charles beat Aliyah John 11-5, 7-11, 11-4, 11-13, 11-4.
In the Junior Boys semi-finals: Cruz Halbach beat Rondre’ John 3 games to 2 Andre’ Mitchell beat Kadeem De Shong 3-1
Andre’ Mitchell was voted the most impressive and outstanding player in the Tournament so he received the Beverley Warren cup along with his first place prize for winning the Junior Division.
