The Fisheries Division within the Ministry of Agriculture this morning officially launched the 39th anniversary of activities for fisherman’s month.
During her opening remarks at this morning’s official launch Acting Chief Fisheries Officer Jenifer Cruickshank Howard said a number of fishermen were involved in a two day workshop to provide training that will enable them to be more productive fishers.
She wished all the fishermen a productive fishing year.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Raymond Ryan congratulated the fisherman day committee and the fisher folk for hosting the activity over the years.
Mr. Ryan said it is an event that showcases the importance of fishing industry towards the development of the national economy.
The 2014 edition of activities fisherman’s months are being observed under the theme: “fishing for today’s family creates a healthy society” and the slogan “fish to survive and thrive.”
