Steps are being taken here to improve the level of communication by telephone within the Public Service, by upgrading the PBX system currently in use.
The project is to be undertaken as part of the second phase of the Caribbean Regional Communications Infrastructure Program, (CARCIP) Program, which is expected to get underway by June this year.
CARCIP is a 25-million US dollars Regional Program, funded by the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank.
The project is designed to bridge the gaps in the national and regional information and communications infrastructure and enhance the connectivity of participating countries.
Local Project Co-ordinator for CARCIP, Roxanne John said preparations are being made to request submissions for proposals for the development of this Government PBX System.
