Training sessions are being held for the Staff of the Farmers Support Company (FSC), a micro financing agency for the agricultural sector, to boost the capacity of the company in the management of financing as it prepares to intensify its lending program.
A release from the Ministry of Agriculture says a 3 day training programme was held last week Wednesday and Thursday and was facilitated by Nikolaus Eich-man and Luis Sankey of the AZMJ, a global Consulting Investment Service based in Washington DC.
Mr. Eich-man said the training was designed to establish a process where the staff could be guided in the development and facilitation of a system that ensures the flow of financing.
He said intention is to equip staff of the Farmers Support Company with the capacity to effectively implement the newly established credit program in the Ministry of Agriculture
The ten participants at the session also included staff of the SVG Cocoa Company and Extension Officers who evaluate and monitors loan applicants.
Last week, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves expressed disappointment with the pace of disbursement of funds from the Farmers Support Company, which was set up to assist local Farmers, by proving loans to rehabilitate their Farms.
