The National Commission on Crime Prevention, NCCP will host a one-day Symposium here today, as part of a series of activities being held under the theme: “Hear The Children”.
The activities are being held as part of a wider effort by the NCCP to break the silence in relation to child abuse.
Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday, NCCP Director Nichola Evans said the aim of the Commission is to educate the public on crime and prevention techniques and to partner with other entities to stop crime.
Ms. Evans said it takes a nation to fight crime, noting crime prevention techniques cannot be developed by sitting at a desk.
Meanwhile, the keynote speaker at today’s Symposium is Dr. Johnnetta McSwain of the U.S.A. Author of the book: Rising above the Scars.
Ms. McSwain who has been a victim of crime since the age of five said she visited the Intermediate High School on Tuesday and her story touched every student. She said she intends to work with the NCCP to fight crime and child abuse.
