Members of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers Union will gather at the Georgetown Secondary School tomorrow for their 18th Biennial Convention.
A release from the Teachers Union says the Convention will be held at the Georgetown Secondary School, under the theme: Quality Education: A Collaborative Approach.
The Open Session of the convention is scheduled to begin at nine in the morning, and will hear addresses from President of the Teachers Union Oswald Robinson and Chief Education Officer, Lou-Ann Gilchrist.
The feature address will be delivered by Deputy Director of the Community College, Nigel Scott, who will speak on this year’s theme.
Two stalwarts of the Teachers Union will also be honored during the open session, for their contribution to the Union and to Education in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The two are: former President of the
Teachers Union Tyrone Burke and Carmella Smart.
During the closed session in the afternoon, the delegates will discuss reports from the National Executive, the Treasurer and the Auditors.
The new Executive will then be installed to serve the 2014 to 2016 biennium.
