Speaker of the OECS House of Assembly Rene Baptiste will deliver the 50th Anniversary Lecture of the General Employees Co-operative Credit Union GECCU, tonight.
Miss Baptiste, who is also President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Bar Association, and a former President of GECCU, will speak on the topic: The Role of Credit Unions in National Development – Women Stalwarts of GECCU.
The Presentation will be dedicated to former General Manager of GECCU, Viola John, in honour of her sterling contribution to the organization.
It is the second in a series of lectures focusing on GECCU’s contribution to its members in all spheres of life, in St. Vincent and the Grenadines over the past 50 years.
The series is also highlighting the role which Credit Unions have played in the socio-economic, political and spiritual development of the nation.
Tonight’s lecture begins at eight at the Peace Memorial Hall. It will be broadcast live on NBC Radio.
The 50th anniversary Celebrations of GECCU are being held under the theme “Proud of the Past – Prepared for the Future”.
