The central water and sewage authority CWSA has announced that the water supply from its intakes at Dalaway, Majorca and Montreal are approaching critical levels as a result of the continuing lack of rainfall.
The CWSA is therefore requesting all citizens to observe strict water conservation measures that include a restriction in watering and washing of vehicles.
Caretakers at schools and other public buildings are also expected to ensure water wastage is eliminated and to report all leaks to the CWSA.
If the situation worsens, rationing of water may be implemented in order to ensure an equitable distribution of water from these systems.
The CWSA will continue to provide the public with information as the situation develops.
