The Ministry of Telecommunications is preparing to hold a Consultation which will commence the work on its second component of the Caribbean Regional Communications Infrastructure Program, (CARCIP) Program
CARCIP is a 25 million US dollars Regional Program, funded by the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank.
The project is designed to bridge the gaps in the national and regional information and communications infrastructure and enhance the connectivity of participating countries.
CARCIP National Project Co-ordinator for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Roxanne John said they expect to roll out the second component of the program by June of this year.
Mrs. John said beginning tomorrow they will collaborate with the University of Technology (UTech) based in Jamaica to kick off a three-month program which will focus on the assessment and development of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Skills as well as Certification.
She said the main aim of this program will be to create more jobs in the ICT Sector.
