Parents, Teachers and Students gathered at the Methodist Church Hall yesterday, to witness the presentation of Achievement Awards to students who excelled in the Common entrance and CSEC Exams last year.
Kyle James from the St. Vincent Grammar School was named the Top Male Performer for 2013 at the National Awards Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Education.
The Top female performer is Kaela Barrett of the Girls High School.
Awards were also presented to the top ten performers in the Common Entrance Exams.
Gian Paul Baker; Kelcey Allen and Nneka McMillan from the Kingstown Preparatory School; Areanna St. Luce from Calliaqua Anglican; Sariah Jackson from Lodge Village Government School; Zoe Porter – Windsor Primary; Delaan Nedd – St. Mary’s R.C; Kyle Dasilva – Richland Park Seventh day Adventist; Anthony Overing – Mustique Government and Janique Nichols – Biabou Government.
Other awards were presented to the Sandy Bay Secondary School for the Most improved results;
School with best result after remediation – Emmanuel High school, Mesopotamia
School with best CSEC result – Girls High School
There were also awards for the top performers at each Secondary School; and Commendable Performance after Remediation.
Meanwhile … in her address at the Awards ceremony, Education Minister Girlyn Miguel said that the Ministry will continue to encourage scholastic achievement of students.
And … Chief Education Officer Louann Gilchrist congratulated all students who excelled in their exams, but she expressed concern about the standard of performance by some students.
