A number of students from fifteen secondary schools across the country are competing today in a local history quiz dubbed “Know Yo History”.
The preliminary round of the competition is taking place at the peace memorial hall. Ten schools will advance to the semifinals and five will compete in the finals.
Speaking at this morning’s opening Senior Education Officer with responsibility for Curriculum Aldia Gumbs Dyer said St. Vincent and the Grenadines is well known for its rich history.
She disclosed that today’s competition is intended to motivate students to research their local history and provide the opportunity to showcase what they have learnt.
Meanwhile …. Representative from the SVG National Trust Morrison Baisden has made an appeal for Local History to be rewritten.
