Officials from the Ministry of Education have highlighted that communication is a very important social skill which should be mastered by the youths, to ensure their holistic development.
This is according to Education Officer Responsible for Literacy, Albena Jack who was speaking at the Ministry of Education’s Finals for the Grade Five Primary Schools Public Speaking Competition, last week.
Mrs. Jack said that while the aspects of reading and writing continue to receive the most attention, teachers should teach their students more about speech and public speaking.
Mrs. Jack is also calling on teachers to have regular public speaking programs within their classrooms to boost the speaking abilities of their students.
