Efforts are ongoing to sensitize health care professionals in this country to the importance of drug use.
The SVG pharmacy council, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment along with the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States/ Pharmaceutical Procurement Services (OECS/ PPS) will be hosting a symposium in this regard.
In an interview with NBC News registrar of the SVG Pharmacy Council, Levi Walker said they have recognized that rational drug use is a problem and it is a cause for concern.
Mr. Walker said, it was also recognized that many persons consume their medications inappropriately which can cause wide spread wastage and health hazards.
The Pharmacy Registrar said they are hoping that hosting an event of this nature will assist all health professionals with respect to the rational use of drugs and prescribing of medications so that patients will receive the optimal benefit.
