The Central Water and Sewerage Authority CWSA earlier today carried out a clean-up of the River close to the Kingstown Preparatory School and NBC Radio, as activities continue to observe World Water Week.
Communications and Marketing Manager at the CWSA Joan Ryan says the river became polluted because of the illegal dumping in communities upstream.
She says the illegally dumped waste presents a major threat to the environment.
Ms. Ryan says the CWSA is seeking to partner with the media to tackle the issue of illegal dumping through activities that can change people’s mindset.
