Plans are in the pipelines to plant some 500 cocoa plants this year. This announcement came from Ruth Moloney, Head of Development and Sustainability, Americas on Thursday.
Ms. Moloney who delivered an update on the St, Vincent cocoa project said 200 acres of cocoa are being
planted with 56 demonstration farmers growing cocoa thus far.
She said they are urging farmers to aim for the production of 20 pods per tree to achieve profitable results.
Lint cocoa foundation is a Swiss based chocolate company, and one of the world’s premium suppliers with Amajaro being one of the key suppliers in Ghana.
Ms. Moloney said that they have recently received support from the lint cocoa foundation in an effort to assist in training with the farmers support company in agricultural lending.
