Earlier, England won the toss and chose bat first scoring 131 for 7 off 20-overs. Stand-in Captain Eion Morgan top scored with 43 not out, while Moeen Ali made 22; Krishmar Santokie 3 or 24, Sheldon Cottrell 2 for 23 and there was a wicket for Andre Russell 1 for 16 and Samuel Badree 1 for 19.
Opener Dwayne Smith supported Gayle with 36, while Lindl Simmons was on 15 not out, as West Indies replied with 132 for 7 off 16.1-overs; James Tredwell, Ravi Bopara and Stephen Parry took a wicket each for England.
So the final scores: England 131 for 7 off 20-overs, West Indies 132 for 3 off 16.1-overs.
The defending champions West Indies will meet India in their opening match on Sunday in Dhaka.
