Vincentians are being urged to be aware of the link between high salt diets and Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases such as hypertension.
The effects of salt consumption on human health were being highlighted last week as the global community observed World Salt Awareness Week.
This year’s campaign, which was held under the theme: ‘Read the label, choose less salt’, was aimed at highlighting the importance of nutrition labeling to inform consumers about the salt content in processed foods.
Chief Nutritionist, Andrea Robin, said the ministry is continuing its efforts to promote a healthy population.
