A new Cooperation Agreement between the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of Cuba, will be initialled at a ceremony tomorrow.
The Agreement covers the technical assistance which the Republic of Cuba continues to offer to St Vincent and the Grenadines to improve our services by sending Cuban Health professionals, with the fundamental aim of strengthening the national health sector.
The first Health Cooperation Agreement was initialled by both countries on June 19, 2007.
Since then, Health professionals, including Medical Doctors and Pharmacists, have been serving this country at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital and the various Health districts.
There are currently five Cuban Health professionals serving here in St Vincent and the Grenadines: four medical doctors and one Pharmacist.
The Ministry says replacement specialists are expected to arrive here in St Vincent and the Grenadines by the beginning of April.
The Agreement will be signed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to St Vincent and the Grenadines Pablo Rodriguez Vidal and Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment Clayton Burgin.
The signing ceremony takes place at the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba at Prospect, beginning at 9.30 tomorrow morning.
