There are no reported cases of the Chikungunya disease in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, however the Ministry of Health says it is continuing its surveillance for the viral disease.
The disease which is spread by the Aedes Aegypti Mosquito is the latest medical issue in the region with a number of countries including Dominica reporting confirmed cases.
Chairman of the National Surveillance Committee, Dr. Rosmond Adams said at present the Ministry’s proactive program to address the Chikungunya Virus have been progressing well.
He said the Ministry has also distributed flyers throughout the country to sensitize the public about the disease.
Dr. Adams said the Vector Control Unit has also expanded its Mosquito control program in its continued quest to eliminate the Aedes Aegypti Mosquito.
