The National Emergency Management Organization will partner with a number of local and regional organizations during this year to address Earthquake and Tsunami Readiness.
This was revealed by Deputy Director of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), Michelle Forbes, who highlighted this after last Tuesday’s 6.4 magnitude earthquake which was felt in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Miss Forbes said since 2007 they have heightened their programs focused on earthquake and Tsunami readiness throughout the country and this work is continuing.
She said they are preparing to embark on a public sensitization program and they have partnered with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the Seismic Research Unit of the University of the West Indies to host these programs.
