Parliamentary Representative for the West St. George Constituency and Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture, Cecil Mckie said that they want to ensure financial independence for the twenty participants in the garment making workshop which is currently ongoing.
He made this statement last week during the official opening of a six week Garment Making workshop which is being held at the Doris Mckie Learning Resource Center at Upper Cane Hall.
The workshop is being held to educate twenty participants how to sew clothing through which they can sustain their own livelihoods.
Minister Mckie said they want to create an umbrella cooperative and have these participants join this movement as employment is created for them.
Minister Mckie said the participants will also be part of the cooperative which will provide uniforms for all the schools in West St. George.
