St. Vincent and the Grenadines can expect to see the establishment of its very own Internet Exchange Point or (IXP) within the next two months.
This was revealed by Head of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC), Apollo Knights who said thus far they are making good progress with the work.
An Internet Exchange Point (IXP) is a physical structure through which Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) exchange Internet traffic between their networks. The primary purpose of an IXP is to allow networks to interconnect directly, via the exchange, rather than through one or more third-party networks.
Mr. Knights said while they are currently addressing the issues relating to location of the IXP and the equipment required to make it work, they expect all of the work to be completed and have the IXP Operational within the next two months.
