The St. Vincent Electricity Services (VINLEC) is continuing its work to restore its five Hydro Plants to operation.
This was revealed by Chief Executive Officer of VINLEC, Thornley Myers yesterday as he announced that the company will be cushioning the cost of an increased Fuel surcharge to its customers which has occurred as a result of a reduction in its capacity to generate Hydro Electricity.
He highlighted that all five of their Hydro Electricity Plants were damaged during the trough system on Christmas Eve and up until January 24th no power was being generated from their Hydro Plants.
Mr. Myers said they have however been successful in having one of their plants located at Cumberland returning to normal operation.
He said they are continuing work at South Rivers and they expect to have this Hydro Plant operational within the next two weeks.
