Local Farmers will be involved in a National Re-planting exercise this year, year, as part of the nation-wide Banana Rehabilitation Programme.
Head of the Banana Services Unit in the Ministry of Agriculture, Sylvester Vanloo, says over one hundred and seventy Acres had been re-planted, at the end of last year.
He said farmers are still receiving Banana Plants to carry forward the operation: “Plant Back” programme.
Mr. Vanloo said the Ministry of Agriculture is anticipating that several Banana Plantations will be back in operation this year, as the distribution of banana plants continues.
