Executive Director of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), Howie Prince said Communication is key during times of disaster.
He made this statement during a Workshop focusing on Exploring Volcanic Risk Awareness and Communication on St. Vincent.
The seminar was hosted by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) in collaboration with The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre, The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the Strengthening Resilience in Volcanic Areas (STREVA) Project.
Mr. Prince said the manner in which the current disaster in St. Vincent and the Grenadines shows how effective communication can become during these times.
He said a lack of communication can result in disasters being worst than they ought to be in any country.
