New Zealand came from behind to win the 2nd and final Twenty/20 International Cricket match against the West Indies at the West Pack Stadium in Wellington today and take the series 2-nil.
It was a close match heading into the final stages, after the West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first, made 159 for 5 from their 20-overs. Denesh Ramdn top scored for the West Indies with 55 not out, while Andre Fletcher made 40 as they put on 70 runs for the 5th-wicket.
New Zealand lost early wickets in their chase, but just like Ramdin and Fletcher, the hosts found a good partnership when they needed one. Ross Taylor and Luke Ronchi combined in a 68 runs stand to put the Kiwis back on track.
Taylor hit 39 but Ronchi was the star of the show, blazing an unbeaten 51 from 28 balls as New Zealand won by 4 wickets.
There were a few changes around with Mitchell McClenaghan back in the squad in place of Tim Southee for New Zealand, while Denesh Ramdin and Jason Holder came in for Kieran Powell and Samuel Badree for West Indies.
So the final scores: West Indies 159 for 5 off 20-overs; Denesh Ramdin 55 not out, Andre Fletcher 40, Lendl Simmons 29; Adam Milne 2 for 22,
New Zealand: 163 for 6 off 19-overs; Luke Ronchi 51, Ross Taylor 39, Jesse Ryder 23; Andre Russell 2 for 16, Sunil Narine 2 for 18, Jason Holder 2 for 34.
