The Forestry Department in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries says every effort is being made to clear the nation’s rivers and forested areas of debris and other materials which were deposited during the flooding on Christmas Eve.
The assurance came from Senior Forestry Supervisor, Cornelius Richards as he discussed the department’s ongoing efforts during NBC’s Face to Face programme last week.
Mr. Richards said significant resources will have to be invested in executing this initiative due to the unprecedented scale of the flooding.
Mr. Richards said the department is exploring the possibility of partnering with other agencies and organizations as it seeks to boost its capacity to prepare for events of this nature.
