A four-member Medical Team from the United States is now in the state for the first Pediatric General Surgery Mission to St. Vincent and the Grenadines by the World Pediatric Project, WPP.
Pediatiic Surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Lukish says the Mission has been very successful so far.
Dr. Lukish said about 40 children were evaluated on Sunday, and it was determined that eight of them required surgery. He said the surgeries have already been performed and the children are recovering well.
He said the main areas requiring medical intervention related to bowel conditions, and the patients will receive follow care.
She says the Chief Executive Officer of the World Pediatric Project, Susan Rickman will also be here to conduct meetings as well as look at the progress of renovations being done on the Pediatric Ward at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
