The Government of Guyana has approved financial support for St. Vincent and the Grenadines and other Caribbean islands impacted by last week’s trough system.
Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon says 100-thousand US dollars has been approved for St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Lucia, as well as 75-thosuand dollars for Dominica.
Dr. Luncheon said the Government had also “put in place mechanisms” for a disaster relief fund for the impacted islands.
That fund would allow citizens and organizations to make contributions to support relief efforts in the affected countries.
