Union Island All-Stars defeated the Bequia All-Stars 59-54 in overtime to capture the coveted Title of the Digicel Grenadines Basketball Championship at the weekend at the Clive Tannis Hard Court in Bequia.
Kevin Joseph led the scoring for Union Island All-Stars with 17 points, while rookie Orlando Blugh of Bequia All-Stars scored 12 points.
Rohan Henry hit a game high 25 points as Canouan Islanders defeated Mustique Icons 80-63 to take the third place. Mustique Icons leading scorer was I-SHA-MA McCree with 21 points
Earlier in the semi-final, Union Island All Stars overwhelmed Mustique Icons 112-51. The top scorer for Union Island All Stars was Stevorn Taylor with 25 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals. Glenn Smith was Mustique Icon’s leading scorer with 19 points.
And, Bequia All Stars beat Canouan Islanders 58-40. Kelan Edwards led the for Bequia All Stars with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals and the leading scorer for Canouan Islanders was Rohan Henry with 12 points.

Warrican Garrick of the Third Place team Canouan Islanders was awarded Tournament MVP for his impressive statistics throughout the 3 week competition. Individual Team MVP awards were adjudged as follows: Bequia All Stars MVP: Kirstin Lampkin, Mustique Icons MVP I-SHA-MA McCree, Canouan Islanders MVP Warrican Garrick, and Union Island All Stars MVP Stevorn Taylor. Lampkin also took the trophy for the most rebounds with 70 in 6 games, while Union Island All Stars MVP Stevorn Taylor was also awarded most assists and most steals with 22 and 21 respectively. I-SHA-MA McCree had the most points in the tournament with 117 in 6 games. The 2014 Championship is scheduled for May.
