A call has been made for more to be done locally to end Violence against women.
This call was reiterated by a number of speakers during the opening of today’s workshop which is being held in commemoration of International Day to End Violence Against Women (IDEVAW).
The workshop which is dubbed “Voices of the Survivors” is being hosted by the Gender Affairs Division within the Ministry of National Mobilization.
Permanent Secretary Acting in the Ministry of National Mobilization, Gwendolyn Burgin said Violence Against Women is real and it is one of the most common humans right issues globally.
Miss Burgin said while work has been ongoing to address this issue in the country, the fight must continue and it must be more visible.
