A Graduation Ceremony will be held here next week, to mark the close of the 4th cycle of the A GANAR Programme.
The programme is aimed at equipping young people with marketable skills, through academic courses and sports. A release from Partners of Americas says it is funded by USAID, and was carried out in four phases.
Phase one involved a mix of sports, field and classroom activities, to encourage competencies in team work and communication.
Phase two involved training in market-driven Technical and Vocational Skills, during which the participants were expected to apply their skills to a specific technical career.
Under phase three, the youth were given practical experience, through internships, apprenticeships and other activities.
And phase four provided the participants with guidance in follow-on activities, facilitating them in establishing an alumni network and helping them to make the transition to successful job placement.
The young people are mentored throughout the programme, by local professionals, who volunteer their time to work with small groups.
Next week’s Graduation Ceremony is slated for Thursday November 7th at the Peace Memorial Hall from 10am.
