Vincentians are being urged to desist from the illegal removal of sand from the country’s beaches as it is having a negative impact on the local sea turtle population.
The advice came from Superintendent of Marine and Terrestrial Parks at the Nation Parks, Rivers and Beaches Authority, Andrew Lockhart.
Mr. Lockhart said the unlawful removal of sand, coupled with the natural erosion of the coast, is resulting in a deterioration of the natural habitat of sea turtles.
